Woodworking Fasteners

CSH stocks the fasteners cabinet shops use every day: cabinet and woodworking screws, cover caps that hide them, dowels and biscuits, threaded inserts, bolts, nuts, nails and staples. Brands include FastCap, CSH, Senco, Stafast, Kreg and Blum.

Shop by type

Best sellers include the #8 flat head square drive cabinet screw and the #8 round washer head screw. Most screws are sold in multiples of 100.

Reading a screw listing

The gauge (#8, #10) is the thickness, then the head (flat for countersinking, washer heads for hanging cabinets), the drive (square, Phillips or combo), the thread (coarse for particleboard and softwood) and the point (Type 17 points cut their own path and reduce splitting).

Questions

What does Type 17 mean on a screw?

A Type 17 point has a notch that cuts like a drill bit, so the screw starts easily and is less likely to split the wood.

Square drive or Phillips?

Square drive grips the bit better and cams out less; combo drive accepts both a square and a Phillips bit.

What screws hang cabinets?

Washer-head cabinet screws are a common choice because the wide head spreads the load. Screw into studs.
